Many store-owner’s often ask how they can send their subscribers a renewal reminder an X amount of days before the subscription will renew. Doing this with custom code can be quite a job, which is why it’s 100% okay to do so with the help of another extension.
I’ll go over how to create these renewal reminder emails below!
Step 1: Download and install the AutomateWoo plugin: https://automatewoo.com/
AutomateWoo has much more functionality than just this one method, the price tag is a small price to pay for fantastic functionality.
Step 2: Add a new workflow by navigating to: AutomateWoo > Workflows > ‘Add Workflow’
Step 3: Set the ‘Trigger’ to ‘Subscription Before End’. You’ll then want to set the ‘Days before end’ to the amount of days before renewal that you’d like to send these emails. I chose 5, which will send my customers an email 5 days before renewal.
Step 4: A ‘Rule’ is not necessary, but can help in many situations. For this particular situation, I suggest choosing the ‘Subscription Requires Manual Renewal’ option. You can then choose ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, depending on whether you’d like to include these renewal reminders for either ‘Manual’ or ‘Automatic’ renewal subscriptions.
Will only send to subscribers using ‘Automatic Renewal’:
Will only send to subscribers using ‘Manual Renewal’:
Step 5: The next setting is your ‘Action’, which is one of the most important steps in this process. Your rule will define the what of your workflow.
In this case, we’re going to choose the ‘Send Email’ option:
As you can see, there are many different variables that you can use within your emails.
You can view more information on these variables here.
Step 6: ‘Save’ your newly created workflow!
You should now be set to send out renewal reminders for your existing subscribers.
I hope this has been helpful, but please let me know if you have any questions!
